Doug Patterson, SMACNA – Western Washington’s Director of Technical Services is available to offer technical assistance to SMACNA members. He has been active in the sheet metal industry sense 1966. Most of this time has been in supervision with one of the larger mechanical contractors in Seattle. Doug has accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge that he is willing to share with SMACNA contractors.
Doug offers technical consulting in the following areas to SMACNA Contractors:
- Supervision
- HVAC engineering
- Value engineering
- Assistance with interpretation of the mechanical code and the building code
- Fire / smoke dampers
- Seismic bracing
- Duct installation
- Equipment installation
- SMACNA manuals
- Training programs for member company personnel
- Interface with other trades
Doug is chairman of the SMACNA / ICBO code committee. They meet once a month from September through June. He welcomes your inquiries or requests for committee interpretations of any code issues. With the adoption of the new International Mechanical and Building code, the committee expects to have a very busy year.
Doug also serves as SMACNA’s liaison with a variety of organizations including ASHRAE, SMACNA’s Safety and Technical Services Committee and SMACNA’s Accident Prevention Program.
